Mission Statement
To support the Golden Lion Battalion and UAPB, and to promote and sustain communication and direct mutual relationships among alumni, cadets, cadre, staff, the university, and UAPB COA friends.
5-Year Vision
Commissioned Officers’ Association will connect all Golden Lion Leaders from past, present and future to create an integrated network of leaders that provide fellowship, knowledge, mentorship, and strength. This integrated Pride of Lion leaders will bring current support to the UAPB ROTC program, provide mentorship to the current generation of leaders, and sustain the legacy of The Golden Lion Battalion.
Goals for 2023 – 2028
1. Concentrated effort to connect with the Alumni ROTC classes of 1990’s and 2000’s up to the present.

- Current Lion Leaders of this generation. Future leaders of the COAs.

- We must have a Generation to pass our Legacy / History to.

- COA Continuity for the future.

- Discover and implement the method of reaching this segment of Golden Lion Leaders

2. Create a mentorship and accountability network of Golden Lion leaders.

- Names of Lion Leaders / Mentors in each State. (Retired Lion Leaders)

- Lion Leader POC (Active duty/ Reserve/ NG) at every Military Location

- No Lion left alone on any base. Always know where the Lion Leadership Den is.

- Mentoring UAPB Lion leaders throughout their career

- Connecting through Traditional, Electronic and Social Media platforms.
3. Improve the COA’s methods of internal and external communication.

- Create a secure database of with all Alumni Golden Lion Leaders with updated contact information.

- Improve our Social Media Presence to attract new COA membership.

- Create social media content on our platforms that shows our relevance to our members, Our School, potential Sponsors, and our future cadets.

- Have quarterly social engagements with COA members (Homecoming, Zoom Happy Hours, Newsletters. Etc.)

How You Can Help the UAPB COA
-
- Join the COA – allow your dues to support programs. All current and former UAPB Army ROTC cadets are eligible for membership, with those remitting annual or lifetime dues enjoying voting privileges within the Association.

- Contribute talent, time, and financial assistance to mentor and develop cadets.

- Contribute to the COA Scholarship program and mini-grants or endow a scholarship for a qualified cadet.

- Encourage and mentor a student to apply for ROTC.

- Inspire students to commit themselves and train for service as an Army officer.

- Participate in and promote joint activities with the Golden Lion Battalion.

- Return to campus, address classes, and impart real-world experiences to cadets to complement classroom and other instructional activities. Serve on the UAPB COA Board of Directors.
Tax Exempt Status
The IRS considers the UAPB Commissioned Officers’ Association a tax-exempt organization as described in Code Section 501 (c3).
